Another weekend, another food festival. This is getting quite exhausting... Just kidding! I live for these types of fun events where I get to dabble in all that is great LA dining all in one place. This week takes me to the Los Angeles Times The Taste and it was held in the Paramount Studios back lot which was a really interesting location. It also was about 90 degrees (thank you LA summer for eventually coming) so at times I was using menus as a fan and skipping the wine and beer tastings for ice cold water.
This event differs from Food & Wine because all of the tents were local LA restaurants and many of them are actually very close to my office, which makes me excited as we tasted many great treats.
This event was called Field to Fork so all of the dishes were prepared using local products. Makes me happy to see so many LA eateries adopting this type of philosophy.
Get ready for it! Food porn in 3... 2... 1...

Like Food & Wine, there were some definite stand outs and favorites. In no order.
- Farmshop's Smoked albacore tuna, artichoke caponata and fennel blossoms
- Muddy Leek's chicken and duck liver mousse with quince chutney on sourdough crostini
- Hamasaku's hokkido scallop with yuzu apple ceviche
- The Curious Palate's szechwan baby back ribs
- Mayura's butter chicken, vegetable korma, spinach chana, vegetable fried rice and garlic naan
- Momed's duck shawarma, avocado hummus, and muhammar on naan
- Pinches Taco's al pastor and pescado tacos
After another day of stuffing my face and my belly with good eats, nothing beat coming home and taking a nap in the sunshine. This is turning out to be an excellent Labor Day Weekend!
Cheers,
Kate
